Antique large magic lantern. Black lacquered tinplate and brass. France.
Circa: late 19th century-early 20th century. Brand unknown (Laterne Universelle C & G Paris, Lapierre...).
The optical part consists of a bigger condenser lens and a bronze adjustable thread objective with two lens.
A kind of magic lantern used to present lectures in large rooms and for teaching students at schools or university.

Twenty-eight square lantern slides (flowers, butterflies, fish, marine mammals...). Hand-painted glasses.
Powerful lamp oil with three adjustable burners. Wood-framed slide (Duplex carrier). Chimney with two heights.
Dimensions: magic lantern (43 cm long by 14,5 cm wide and 26 cm high-51 cm with chimney), oil lamp (16,1 cm long by 12 cm wide and 20 cm high), lantern slides (9 cm long by 8,5 cm wide), condenser lens (11 cm diameter and 5 cm thick) and objective (6 cm diameter).
Set weight: 4.390 grams (3.366 grs. only magic lantern).
Fine condition. Wear from normal use for its age.
The body of the magic lantern shows signs of use and time and paint chips. Wooden frame has some cracks. Lantern slides are in poor condition and the definition of the images has been lost in many of them while others have broken.
